Typical tasks

When the guild kills someone, Winnie's job is to sell the victim's possessions. She rarely does this personally; Winnie is a coordinator for guild-associated shopkeepers. Winnie audits stores' bookkeeping, housekeeping, and security. She tracks suspected embezzlement and reports finances to Khuuloa.

Guild views / life circumstance

Winnie grew up in a small village of sheep farmers. For three decades she shirked hard labor whenever physically possible, regardless of its scope, nature, or benefit.

Winnie's older sister Norrta was a scribe who kept ledgers and made calculations for caravaneers. Norrta's husband Takkdar would help her find work. The concept of literacy in Yuto is that it is a way to afford a study to drink in, though most of the villagers are are unsure of the specifics of how to do this. For this sort of reason, Winnie had a huge interest in learning how to read and write, and would have her older sister teach her.

Although being a trader is safer than a lot of jobs, it is dangerous to move goods between areas of civilization. Norrta was killed in a caravan raid. Initially, barbarians were blamed, but there is the possibility that the raiders were rival merchants in disguise.

Without her sister, and disgusted by farm life, Winnie moved to Ardarr-Norr, working at various shop fronts, tricking people out of their money, and helping merchants evade taxes. Through the merchants, she began meeting thieves. In exchange for a cut of stolen property, Winnie would cooperate in burglaries, briberies, and robberies. She was eventually invited to join the thieves' guild because she could keep ledgers. Repulsed by menial labor, and trying to protect her life with an institution of criminals, she agreed. The thieves were upfront that they sometimes take contracts to kill people, and Winnie accepts this because she wishes revenge for the death of her sister.

Winnie remains friends with Takkdar, though she doesn't waive his protection fees.
